The Bald Eagle Cam - Decorah Eagles on Ustream

Another amazing live webcam for today!  Watch a pair of bald eagles care for their newly hatched chicks 24/7!  Watch the embedded video below, or go to the Ustream page to check it out for yourself. One note though....don't forget that bald eagles are carnivores so be prepared to see dead animals brought back to feed the chicks!

This webcam is brought to you by the Raptor Resource Project.  The eagles are located in Decorah, Iowa at a fish hatchery.

Bald Eagle Live Camera

I just had this website shared with me this morning courtesy of Beth Williams and her mother (Thank You!).  The site is a project maintained by The George Miksch Sutton Avian Research Center that has two cameras set up to watch over a bald eagle pair's nest 24/7.

The female has laid 3 eggs and one has hatched just yesterday!  You get a view over the Momma and her nest as well as a view of the entire tree that Poppa is usually perched on top of! It's so exciting to see the mother nestling in with
her eggs and feeding the hatchling.  Check it out every day!  Click here to see the live feed.

NOTE: The video may appear to load incorrectly, just showing a black screen, but it takes a bit to show the picture.  I had to wait for about 20 seconds before the black screen switched to the video view.

Vitual Field Trips! Travel from your desk!

Good morning!  I've been meaning to post this for a while now!  Ever since I've been to the NYSCATE Conference, I've been dying to see a teacher in one of my districts try out a virtual field trip.  There are so many to choose from!  They do cost some money, but not too much, and I believe some are free!

So here's my challenge: browse through the sites listed below to find a trip you want to take with your class.  Then, I will do everything I can to make it happen for you!  It will be so fun for your students, I promise!

These sites have trips ranging from museums to Nasa to universities around the country.

Zamzar! ...now you can't live without it.

Good morning!  Sorry for posting a bit later than usual this morning...I was getting over the shock of being in the spotlight on the Ogdensburg district site!  I was also making sure that today's post works well.  It does!  Zamzar is a fantastic website that is multi-purpose.  You can: 1) convert files from one thing to another.  Convert a mp4's to wmv's...or pdf's to Word documents!  2) Download videos from a URL! Paste in the address of the page a video is on and get it sent to your email in the format you need.

Zamzar is free, but there are file size limits, and it is not instant.  I converted a video from mp4 to wmv this morning and upload time and conversion time together took about 30 minutes.  Either way, this tool is priceless.
